Handcrafted in our Devon workshop, The Lidster Oak Refectory Table is made from real wood and, better still, made from high quality reclaimed, salvaged oak, so you can own your new furniture content in the knowledge that no new trees were cut down to make it.   Our hand crafted Oak Tables are an investment and will stand the test of time.

The timber is sourced as locally as possible to cut down our carbon footprint.  Your reclaimed oak wood table will be made from old beams and floorboards to provide a timeless, rustic charm.  They are solidly constructed to last a lifetime and each one is totally unique.    Only quality salvageable timbers are used to craft our tables - meaning the tables which are created will be long-lasting and sturdy.  Reclaimed wood furniture and reclaimed wood dining tables are considered to be investment furniture that will stand the test of time.

We embrace all of these natural characteristics as they are an integral part of the wood.  We occasionally blend small amounts of filler and use splints into certain types of cracks or cuts to help sure up the surface.

The Lidster Oak Refectory Table features a smooth, sturdy and durable table top measuring approximately two inches thick and is beautifully finished with elegant turned legs.  The tables are hand waxed in medium oak and we then apply a coat of clear natural bees wax polish before despatch.  If you are looking for a perfectly flat surface and flat edges, reclaimed wood would not be recommended. Our reclaimed wood furniture is designed to emphasise the beauty of original reclaimed timbers, which by nature is rustic and imperfect and should not be deemed defective.

Oak trees can take well over one hundred years to grow and live for more than 300 years, their timbers are much stronger, heavier and denser than those of pine trees. Oak is much less prone to scratching or denting and your oak table will weigh twice that of a pine table.

Our Reclaimed Lidster Oak Refectory Table is a versatile piece of furniture that can work well in a variety of interior styles, from farmhouse to modern.  It provides a warm and inviting gathering place for family and friends and can be paired with a range of seating options, from benches to chairs.  Our Reclaimed Lidster Oak Refectory Table is a unique and charming addition to any home.

Crafted with great care and attention, every table is made to order with a lead time of approximately 6 - 8 weeks depending on levels of demand.

We are able to deliver to UK Mainland addresses.  We use a professional two man team to deliver from Devon and to a ground floor location only.   Please note that oak is extremely heavy and assistance may well be required on delivery day.

Your table is delivered in two sections; the frame/base and then the tabletop.  The top will need securing to the base with wooden fixings included, but we do recommend using an electric screwdriver for ease.  Assembly Instructions and Care Guide will be provided but we recommend reading our Care Guide before purchasing a reclaimed piece of furniture.

Our Lidster Oak Refectory Tables are made in the following sizes:-

6ft x 3ft 6

7ft x 3ft 6

8ft x 3ft 6

9ft x 3ft 6

10ft x 3ft 6

Table Height:  Approximately 78/79 cm.

Our reclaimed tables are approximately 78/79cm high and made to fit standard height chairs measuring from floor to seat of approximately 45cm to 46cm.   If you need your table to be made taller to accommodate taller chairs or stools, please let us know and don't hesitate to contact us if you have any queries at all with respect to chair / table height.

Aftercare:

Your reclaimed oak table will need nourishing every 4 weeks with a coat of natural clear bees wax polish (we recommend Parr's Clear Natural Bees Wax Polish).  We also ask our customers to give the tables a good buff with the pot of complimentary polish supplied once you have received it and it is in place to help it settle in to its new environment.  Wood is a natural material that expands and contracts as it releases and absorbs moisture.  Failure to add moisture in the form of clear bees wax can cause movement and cracks to appear as the wood may dry out.

The beeswax polish adds moisture and shine and keeps your table in tip top condition.  Please do not place your table in direct sunlight or next to a direct heat source as this can dry out the wood.

To prevent marks from plates, glasses and cups - we recommend coasters and placemats be used. Do not place hot dishes or plates directly onto your table - it is not heatproof.  Should you have underfloor heating, we recommend placing furniture pads under your table legs.

Please Note: We are not able to offer a colour matching service. All of our tables are finished in a medium wax finish; however, due to the unique nature of reclaimed wood, every piece we create is bespoke and may differ in appearance from the photographs shown. These natural variations are part of the charm and individuality of your handmade table. As such, we are unable to accept returns due to a change of heart. We also cannot take responsibility for damage resulting from failure to follow the guidance provided in our Care Guide.  Made to order furniture is non-returnable as these are custom orders and as such are non-refundable once they have been built.
