Every table we build started life as something else. A barn beam, a factory floor, a farmhouse door. We rescue beautiful, characterful timber from across Devon and the South West, carefully strip it back and give it a new purpose - rebuilding it into a handmade dining table your family could still be sitting around in fifty years.
Our collection of reclaimed pine and oak dining tables is designed for homes where the kitchen or dining room is at the heart of everyday life. Choosing the Right Dining Table
As a general rule, allow 1ft of table length per person. A 6ft table seats four to six comfortably. An 8ft table seats eight to ten. Add a bench along one side and you'll fit a few more in when the whole family descends at Christmas. Leave around 3ft of clear space all the way round so chairs can pull out without meeting the wall.
A refectory table sits on a robust, sturdy base with a central support bar and a chunky construction - with or without an upcycled wine box drawer. A farmhouse table uses four hand-turned legs at the corners, the classic country kitchen shape.
Reclaimed pine is lighter and warmer, full of knots and old saw marks. Reclaimed oak is denser and heavier, with a tighter grain and a more formal finish. Pine suits a relaxed family kitchen. Oak suits a room you want to feel a little grander. Both are made to gather around and made with character.
Built for Real Life, Not a Showroom
Two-inch thick solid reclaimed tops. No MDF, no veneer, no chipboard core. Every board is de-nailed, inspected and hand-sanded before it's built, with reinforced support bars underneath for stability under daily use and hand-turned legs cut and finished in our Devon workshop.
The marks in the wood aren't defects. The grain won't match perfectly across the top, there'll be filled nail holes, and the colour will shift from board to board. That's a hundred years of previous life showing through, and it's the reason you're buying reclaimed in the first place.
